It’s NEVER too late to start something NEW

A common response I hear when helping people who are thinking of starting something new is – ‘Oh it’s probably too late now. I better stick at what I’m good at.’

This is a deep and limiting belief that holds a lot of people back from achieving and embracing new and more fulfilling opportunities.

In my work, I’m passionate in helping others get what they really want in their personal and business life.

1) Your Philosophy

If you were to ask a successful person who has rich meaningful relationships, vibrant health, financial freedom, excited about life and living life on their terms – what is the secret to their success, more often than not, it’ll be their mindset; how they think, feel and act congruently to their goals. Their self-talk will be on how to make X happen, how it will look like and by when.

The need for positive self-talk is critical in building daily momentum. The late Mohammed Ali was famously known for affirming he was ‘the greatest,’ in the presence of his opponents until he became one of the greatest.

Do you find your inner voice cheering you on or does it criticize you? If you find it’s the latter, challenge it for evidence and validation. By reasoning with your inner critic, you can positively turn this into a positive.

2) Will I succeed this time?

Most success in life have a trail of failures before them. Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb and when a reporter asked, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?“, Edison replied, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.

Many of us see failure as a bad thing, but to achieve success, you MUST be prepared to fail. Failure can be a painful thing but learning from these failures and using it to your advantage by learning from these events will make the winning very sweet.

The worst possible thing you can do in life is NOT to try.

3) Eliminating Fear

Fear which stands for False Evidence Appearing Real – can often paralyse individuals from taking action and moving forward. Focusing on what could go wrong stops people in their tracks and missing out on fulfilling their dreams, callings such as launching a new business.

Just say to yourself, what’s the worst thing that could happen? Our fearful thoughts tend to exaggerate when thinking before an event. Also ask yourself, has anything bad happened in the past. You’ll probably find that the answer is No.

4) Consider hiring a coach

No successful person has achieved their ambitions or goals by doing it alone. The late Jim Rohn once quoted ‘It’s very difficult to find a rich hermit you know’.

To make something bigger than yourself come to fruition, you need to surround yourself with people that will challenge and support you on your journey.

Having a coach is a great way of holding you accountable to your actions and gain clarity on what you really want. Go and ask any successful person, and I’ll bet you that they’ve had this kind of support at some stage.
